While we typically go on more “cultural experience” type trips we all deserve a VACATION once in awhile! Mexico is definitely a cultural destination, but for many folks, it’s a popular vacation destination. Inexpensive flights, luxurious resorts and adventurous activities are just a few reasons to visit the sun soaked coast of Mexico! One of my favorite spots in Mexico for all the chill vibes is Cabo San Lucas.
Since we have Hilton Grand Vacation Points Jay choose to book us a the the Hotel Grand Fiesta Americana. This was our first time staying in this resort and our first time back to Mexico in a few years.
We walked in with no real expectations. We were greeted at the front desk and had to get a ride to our room on a golf cart. Well.. when we used our key to gain access to the room someone was already in there! Whoops! Our second room was the farthest away room you could get. It was about a 2-3 minute drive by golf cart. It is quite a walk because the resort is very hilly due to being built in a mountain.
The Room:
- Great view! (sleep with the door open and listen to waves)
- Very quiet at the end of the resort
- Golf Carts arrived promptly for rides
- Decor was dated
- Shower was obviously repaired multiple times
- Closet was awkward to use
- Furniture was clunky/heavy and toe stubbing hazard!
- Needed a ride to restaurants due to location of room
The Pool Area:
This is definitely one of those resorts where you need to get a chair occupied early. We were up at 8-9 AM every morning and a lot of chairs were taken but we didn’t have an issue finding one. They usually have a towel guy there to help you round up chairs if need be!
I liked having the restaurants around the pool area too. That’s always nice. There are 3 pools. One pool was reserved more for members which was fine because there was no bar or food over there! There is one pool for more adult type crowd with a swim up bar so this is where we stayed! The last pool is more for families and games.
The Beach Area:
As much as I love sitting out on the deck in our room and watch/listen to the waves. I did not care for the beach much. We were here in March and the sand was very hot on your feet. It was also very coarse so your feet sunk in quite a bit which made it hard to walk. It was also a pain to get in the water too much because it is so rocky. Some folks said they saw all kinds of fish but we didn’t bother going snorkeling. Tip: Bring water shoes!
The Gym:
This is probably my favorite gym I’ve ever been to in the entire world! I saw a WHALE while I was on the elliptical machine?! Not even kidding! Then I began to see quite a few and all of a sudden working out became fun again! What a great gym! It has an amazing view! I worked out every day when I was here!
The Spa:
We did get a massage while at the resort. We opted for the candle wax massage. It was very nice. The spa is set up to be very relaxing and we enjoyed spending some quality time together afterwards in the sitting area with a bottle of wine.
The Resort as a Whole:
I would definitely come back to the Hotel Grand Fiesta Americana. The employees were all amazing which is always a make or break experience for me. The food was all of good quality especially the tropical fruit. If you are looking to decompress and experience a beautiful resort then I think this will be just your fit!
